Motivation

I have gained a good understanding of software development throughout 5 years of my career in Product Management. However, I wanted to learn the basic of coding in order to collaborate even better with the developers in the future.

Background of this project

I took a course to study basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By using the knowledge I have learned, I wanted to build a small website. I have chosen our neighbourhood cat as a theme for this project. He visits my place sometimes ever since I gave him a nice Japanese treat one day.

Everything in a box

I learned, theoretically, everything goes in a box(container). I didn't have such a concept when I looked at digital products until I started coding. This way of seeing things will help how I structure designs in the future.

Debugging is time consuming than you think

I found it frustrating that it took me a long time to figure out why some of my codes were not working as expected. Experience helps in handling difficult situations better, but solving a bug at first glance is almost impossible unless you possess AI abilities and know everything on the internet. You must first identify what is causing the issue and then work on improving your code. Searching for the right answer among the vast amount of information on the internet also takes time and requires good skills. I was disappointed with myself for not being able to fix bugs quickly, but I realized that I could communicate with more empathy and patience with developers when they face bugs in the future. I can also educate non-developers about it so that we do not unnecessarily pressure developers who must already be frustrated about it.
